In 2010 the Minister of Industry set forth a project called Eco Energy (Græna Orkan) which is aimed at creating a cluster with all players that work for renewable energy for the transport sector, the project's website can be found here. (nb. only in Icelandic)

Experts in utilizing hydropower and geothermal energy in Iceland:
- Landsvirkjun runs the largest hydro-power plants.
- Orkuveita Reykjavíkur runs the largest geothermal electrical power plant and provides district heating service for the south west in Iceland. They have very good information center at Hellisheidavirkjun, approx 20 km East of Reykjavik.
